Description

White Crape Myrtle (Largerstromemia Natchez) Plant 8-10 feet apart. The common crape myrtle grows to a height of 15–25′ and has a spread of 6–15′ at maturity. This shrub is considered a fast grower, with height growth of more than 24″ per year. Full sun is recommended, at least 6 hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight each day. Can be grown in various types of soils from slightly alkaline to acidic. Prefers moist, well-drained sites, however, this shrub has some drought tolerance meaning it thrives best in hot, sunny climates. Can also be grown as a shrub or small tree. Produces wide, showy panicles in various shades of color, with flowers that are similar to crepe paper. Blooms late spring into fall. Pinching old growth produces more panicles extending the blooming period. Tolerates limited soil space. Foliage is dark green, changing to shades of yellow, orange and red in the fall.
